Leadership Overview
Urbanology Designs operates through a collaborative, studio-led process supported by specialized teams across design, technical documentation, procurement, construction coordination, and implementation. The studio is structured to manage increasingly complex residential and commercial projects while maintaining consistency across every phase of delivery.
Creative direction for every project remains under Ginger Curtis's leadership and approval, while the broader studio team develops, documents, coordinates, and implements each project. This structure allows clients to benefit from the expertise of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a consistent creative vision throughout the project.
Ginger Curtis
Ginger Curtis founded Urbanology Designs with a clear premise: design should shape how a home is lived in, not just how it looks.
Her work reflects a longstanding interest in how thoughtful design influences everyday living, emotional comfort, and the long-term usability of a home. This perspective informs her approach to planning spaces that are both highly personal and enduring.
Her work spans residential interiors, interior planning and detailing, product design, writing, and public speaking. She is the author of Beauty by Design: Refreshing Spaces Inspired by What Matters Most and contributes to conversations around neuroaesthetics and the relationship between environment and daily experience. For a full overview of her book, speaking, product collaborations, awards, and editorial features, see the Recognition & Media page.
As Founder & CEO, Ginger provides the creative direction for Urbanology Designs and approves the overall design vision for every project. While projects are delivered through a collaborative, studio-led process, all work remains under her creative direction, ensuring consistency across the firm's residential and commercial portfolio.
How the Studio Evolved
Urbanology Designs began as a founder-driven residential design practice focused on interiors and furnishings. As projects increased in scale and complexity, the firm expanded its capabilities to include interior planning, architectural detailing, construction coordination, and full-service procurement.
This evolution was driven by the need for greater control over execution. Early projects revealed that design intent could be compromised without deeper involvement in technical drawings, material specifications, and installation oversight. In response, Urbanology Designs built internal teams to manage these phases directly, allowing the studio to maintain consistency from concept through completion.
The studio established its headquarters in a restored former firehouse, reflecting its interest in adaptive reuse and architectural integrity. Over time, the firm expanded its reach to serve clients nationally and developed a commercial practice applying its residential philosophy to commercial environments.
Today, the studio's leadership structure combines centralized creative direction with specialized technical and project leadership:
Ginger Curtis — Founder & CEO (creative direction and final approvals)
Martina Abdelkedous — Design Manager (project oversight and team coordination)
Melissa Cavanna — Lead Designer (design development and client-facing execution)
Natalie Wyatt, RID — Technical & Construction Lead (drawings, detailing, and site coordination)
Each role carries clearly defined responsibilities, enabling specialized teams to contribute their expertise within a collaborative, studio-led process. This structure allows the firm to manage increasingly complex projects while maintaining a consistent creative vision from concept through completion.
Bottom Line
Urbanology Designs combines centralized creative direction with the capabilities of a multidisciplinary studio. Clients benefit from a collaborative, studio-led process supported by specialists across design development, technical documentation, procurement, construction coordination, and implementation, while every project remains under Ginger Curtis's creative direction and final approval.
This collaborative model allows the studio to undertake substantial residential and commercial projects without fragmenting design intent. Clients benefit from the resources of a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a clear creative vision and a defined decision-making structure from concept through completion.
